Jim Stenman Leads Urgent Israel–Gaza Discussion at the Middle East’s Leading Business Hub

Jim Stenman Leads Urgent Discussion on Israel, Gaza, and Regional Stability in Dubai - News
Jim Stenman returned to The Arts Club Dubai on September 11th to host Behind the Headlines, its flagship series dissecting the week’s defining stories for an audience of business leaders, policymakers and creatives at the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC).
Joining him on stage were:
  • Abbas Al Lawati, Middle East Editor, CNN
  • Ziad Daoud, Chief Emerging Markets Economist, Bloomberg Economics
  • Elham Fakhro, Middle East Initiative Fellow, Harvard Kennedy School

Over an hour of fast, candid conversation, the panel broke down a crowded news cycle: the fallout from Israel’s reported attack on Doha and what it means for Gaza ceasefire diplomacy; implications for the wider Gulf; and the United States’ credibility as a regional security guarantor. They also examined Europe’s momentum toward recognizing a Palestinian state and looked ahead to a proposed high-level conference on the two-state track that French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman are expected to co-host in New York alongside UNGA.

This marks Stenman’s third time moderating at The Arts Club Dubai. Opened in 2020, the Club is the first international outpost of the historic London institution founded in 1863 and has quickly become a destination for substantive, off-the-record exchange in the city.
